How to play Chalo Jantar Mantar
Chalo Jantar Mantar is a free 3D online game you play in your browser. Pick a side: as ✊ Andolankari you build a crowd, march through New Delhi and hold a dharna at Jantar Mantar; as 👮 Dilli Police you stop them until time runs out. (Prefer Hinglish? Read Kaise khelein.)
The goal
- A match is best of three rounds. Each round lasts about four and a half minutes and runs from morning to night.
- Andolankari win a round when the dharna's POWER bar inside Jantar Mantar fills up.
- Dilli Police win a round if the clock runs out first.
- Online, real players are on both sides and bots fill the empty places. "🤖 Practice" plays against bots only.
Playing as Andolankari
- Build your kafila. Walk into people on the street and they join the crowd marching behind you. The bigger the kafila, the stronger you are.
- Shout a naara (E): more people come out of the shops and join.
- Push barricades by holding the click on them. A bigger kafila pushes harder.
- Take shortcuts. Press F at an auto or taxi for a ride (with a kafila of 3 at most), at a metro entrance for a quick ride underground (20 at most), or near a TV reporter for an interview that can go viral and bring 15 to 25 people. Stand still at a chai stall for three seconds to get your stamina back.
- Section 163. Groups under 30 are stopped at the outer cordon. Inside the inner zone you need 100 or more people together, or security detains you on the spot.
- Hold the dharna inside Jantar Mantar to fill the POWER bar. A dharna after dark, by candle light, counts a little more.
- Detained? You sit in the detention bus. Slip out before it leaves, or let your comrades free you: 40 or more protesters around the bus can gherao it and free everyone.
Playing as Dilli Police
- Lathi (click): hits the kafila; a leader left with too few people around is exposed, and your two constables lift them into the detention bus.
- Tear gas (hold and release the right button, or G): thins out a crowd from a distance.
- Water cannon (R) sprays a kafila apart, and B puts up a barricade for 40 seconds.
- Internet shutdown (J): the protesters lose their map and their naaras reach half as far.
- Press briefing (F at a reporter): your side of the story on TV.
- Your job: keep the dharna from filling up until the clock runs out.

Powers
- 🔗 Human chain (Andolankari, 10 or more people): arms linked, no lathi can pull the leader out and losses are halved, but you move slowly.
- 🚩 Dharna banner: more people join near it, and inside the dharna zone it counts extra.
- 💃 Naacho: soaked by the water cannon? Dance in the spray (G): your kafila stays together and onlookers join in.
🎟️ Jugaad cards
Jugaad cards are one-off powers for online matches. Every card works for both sides, and you get the power of the side you are playing (both are printed in small type on the card). You can play one card a round and five a day.
- 📢 Shor: as andolankari, your next naara (within 20 seconds) reaches twice as far and brings 50% more people. As police, a megaphone sends a quarter of every nearby kafila home.
- 🕵️ Chhupa Rustam: as andolankari, you vanish from the police map for 15 seconds. As police, a jammer cuts the map of nearby protesters for 15 seconds.
- 🚇 Shortcut: as andolankari, the metro is ready at once and your stamina is full. As police, a siren makes you 30% faster for 10 seconds.
- 🛡️ Bachao: as andolankari, play it while the police carry you off or hold you in the detention bus, and you are free at once. As police, three more constables walk with you for 30 seconds.
- 🌟 Jan Sailab (special: only on festivals and in gifts): as andolankari, 15 people join your kafila at once. As police, a Section 163 order slows nearby protesters for 10 seconds.
You earn cards by being the match MVP, by winning three matches in a row, and with the daily challenge, all three weekly missions, day 7 of the daily reward and the week's top spot. With no cards left you get one free card a day, and on festivals (Diwali, Holi, Dussehra, 15 August, 26 January) everyone gets a golden Jan Sailab. A card you earned by playing can be given to a teammate in the same match, up to three a day. You can hold up to 20 cards, and they never expire. See them under 🎟️ Cards on the menu, and read the full guide: Jugaad Cards: every card, how to get them and when to play them.
Weather and time of day
In the rain fewer people come out and tear gas washes away fast. Every round goes from morning to night, and the city lights up after dark.
Progress and rewards
Every finished match earns XP towards eight levels, each with a title and new clothes to wear. After a match you may win an award such as Match MVP or Sabse bada kafila, and online points count on the weekly top 10. Read levels, awards and rewards explained for the details.
